Wow. That bug sure kicked me in the tail. Only now am I feeling about 75% better, which is really the ideal percentage you can be at to actually start working again. Anything less and you have earned the right to do absolutely nothing. It's actually becoming a bit of a phenomenon – employers actually condoning staying home sick. It's opened a tremendous opportunity for anyone Effing The Dog, really. You can now bank more outrageous excuses and take some "sick time" when "needed" at any given time. This brings me to the discussion of my own personal EffTD icon. While I was convalescing at home, I found myself using a combination of several EffTD Tools, most notably the tandem of the TV and the TiVo. It was awesome. Effing The Dog at its finest. And then – the most inspirational film ever made aired, and I was in EffTD heaven. The film in question: Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
Ferris Bueller knew how to take Effing The Dog to an art form. He also had a seemingly limitless amount of disciples who revered him. He had an attractive lady-friend at his side, a loyal sidekick in Cameron Frye, and was even able to sway his sister to seeing the "wonder that is Ferris." I've referred to John Hughes in a past blog entry, and with this film he established himself as having a true understanding of what Effing The Dog can offer society. We should all been thankful.
I highly suggest that each and every one of you who are truly committed to Effing The Dog as a way of life add this film to your personal home video library. It is a must. You will see countless examples on how to implement the system, such as:
– how to effectively fake illness
– how to make authority figures look incredibly stupid
– how to accomplish so much by doing so little throughout your day
– how to use several EffTD Tools in tandem with each other effectively
And if a rock band that lays slacker music dubbed themselves after the man himself, doesn't that further cement his legacy?

Gotta love Ferris. Only he could sing Danke Shoen in public without seeming a total loser.
Thanks for pointing out yet another John Hughes example of Effing-dom!
