There was a time in American history, not too long ago, where individuals scrambled from one device to another in order to EffTD more effectively. Between their cellphone chatter, their TV watching and their Internets-surfing people were getting exhausted juggling all of these devices. Then, one day, Steve Jobs invented the iPhone. With a snap of his fingers perhaps the most effective EffTD tool was born. But not in Canada – and its impending arrival next month had me salivating – until Mr. Rogers got involved.
I'm not a fan of Ted. His brother, Fred, was always the one I admired. The way he turned a simple changing of shoes and outerwear into an Effing The Dog experience was awe-inspiring. I only wish Ted had gleaned one iota of Fred's understanding of EffTD. Since that clearly didn't happen, no iPhone for me.
Ted doesn't seem to be a fan of Effing The Dog and what the iPhone can bring to the table for the methodology. By putting exceptionally high rates onto the device when it enters "our home and native land", he is effectively cutting off most EffTDers from even affording the device. From what I've been told from my insiders (Xerxes really enjoys a good dumpster-diving recon now and again), he is too busy playing "Monopoly" to notice. I'm not sure why or how someone could play that for so long without interruption, but I'll hand it to him – he seems to have it mastered.
Apparently, EffTDers aren't the only ones who are upset by it. An online petition has been started up at www.ruinediphone.com and it is gaining momentum. I'll lend my support to it – if only with the udnerstanding that I cannot actively do anything else to support it. It goes against the EffTD grain to do so. I know you understand.
What I can do is encourage all of my fellow EffTDers who have been "gifted" unlocked iPhones to pop by a Rogers or Fido outlet when you next go shopping (another EffTD tool to discuss another day). Simply show the retailer your device, mention your lack of the new, obligatory, three-year plan – and move on. Passive. Aggressive. It's the EffTD way.
Oh, and if anyone has an unlocked iPhone they'd like to sell to me – I'm all ears. And eyes. And fingers. Etcetera.

"MONTREAL — After consumer complaints about the costs of running an Apple iPhone on the only Canadian network capable of connecting with it, Rogers Wireless (TSX:RCI.B) is cutting the price of the touchscreen phone’s data plan to $30 a month for a limited time." I am glad Rogers backed down, now we can eff the dog on the beach while working on spread sheets… or looking at pron.
It seems this war isn’t over yet, theinquirer.net is reporting some I phone gossips, Steve Jobs is not too happy about how Rogers is effecting there PR. This is a great chance for other service providers to provide a better deal, but not the I phone. “The Vancouver Sun said the Samsung Instinct, which is offered by Bell Canada, was a better deal.” What’s Xerxes thinking about all this fuss?
I once met a friend of Xerxes, who worked at a Mac computer hardware store… so I do not mean any disrespect. Don’t you think we should consider blaming Macintosh for producing a product that would not work with our existing infrastructure? I personal would just want the phone to use my existing carrier and service package with the options of using WIFI in designated wireless area. Not that I would want this particular phone, it might be too good for communication… I hear it does not even have blue screens of death.
