I am hearing a lot about Austin, Texas this week. I even heard about it last week. There is a conference going on there right now – a festival of sorts – known as South By Southwest. It is a stop that many Internetians converge at each year with the hopes of meeting more of thei kind and having a lot of fun. There is also music and films, but not necessarily in that order.
This would seem like the ideal spot for me to be at…a big party where energy is focussed and then unfocussed in a manner thta can be rather staggering. Again, I only speak from what I’ve read on the Internet, so I take it as solid research. Wikis are my godsend.
But I’m not there. Why? Well, to be frank: I’m not ready to be there.
Now, let me clear. There reason I’m not ready to be there has more to do with the fact that while i am confident that Eventualsim will spread throughout the webiverse like so many Trojan horses, it still needs time to ferment. And if I’ve learned anything from Gary Vaynerchuk, it’s that fermenting is good for wine. And since my poetry is like wine (so said Robert Louis Stevenson …in a manner of speaking), then I must bide my time.
I await word from those who did go as to what my approach should be in 2010. While everyone will have just finished spending countless time and money in my own neck of the woods, I’ll have saved my time and money for this long-awaited journey. It wil be difficult, because shopping is an activity that is an Eventualist’s dream activity – but I must only shop for windows in the interim. And I will not buy these windows, for that will be even worse than buying other things because I already have enough windows for the openings in my home. So I will simply shop for them.
To answer the immortal question posed by The Clash sometime in the past when I was young but not so young to remember: I should go. But not now.
(So I guess I only kind of answered it, then.)
