Today Is Worldwide Eventualism Day

by Mike Vardy on July 7, 2009

Wait for it...

In the true spirit of the ideology that I created, as of noon Pacific Standard Time, I proclaim today Worldwide Eventualism Day.  Why?  Well, let me tell you in a form I like to call “the written word.”

First, the world has essentially ground to a halt based on the amount of people paying attention to the Michael Jackson Memorial.  Between the near 20,000 people attending the service in two separate venues and the Twitterers, Facebookers, UStreamers and iReporters fully engaged we’re talking about a global EffTD-fest of worldwide proportions.  Thousands of usually inactive Twitter accounts have sprung to life as if extras in an episode of Extras and the planet is either mourning or bemoaning in turn.  Either way, it’s human nature.

Secondly, it is Tuesday.  In the summer.  Right after a holiday weekend.  Come on.

Finally, Google ended a tremendously long period of self-eventuality by removing the “beta” tag from pretty much everything they have their name attached to, except for Wave (which Xerxes is still awaiting his invite to so I can steal it from him).  Fear not, though.  You can apparently put it back on there…which I will suggest those new to Eventualism do.  It will help you embrace Eventualism more fully on the Internet and will also save me printing costs as removing this tag will now replace the diplomas I used to mail out when you have become a full-fledged Eventualist and EffTDer.

So, Happy Worldwide Eventualism Day!  May it seem like almost forever to you – but not quite so.
