The Eventual Planifesto Ebook: Chapter Six – Doing

They say that knowing is half the battle.

Sure, they were animated soldiers of the American hero variety. But cartoons have taught us much over the years so this lesson shouldn’t be dismissed. If it wasn’t for cartoons we would not know that we couldn’t use umbrellas to stop large objects from falling on us or that some of our vehicles were able to transform into giant sentient beings.

But when they delivered these wise words on a “weekdaily” basis, they left you wondering what the other half of the battle might be. I believe that the other half is a combination of doing and avoiding. Eventualism allows you to combine the two quite well – like peanut butter and vodka. Incidentally, Eventualism also allows you to combine peanut butter and vodka quite well.

Eventualism decrees that the best kind of doing really is someone else’s.

When you think about doing stuff, the goal is to think about it for as long as possible. That makes the thing that you are thinking about doing that much more daunting. Its doability is not as high – it has essentially become undone. This kind of eventualizing of a task is known as “coming undone”. Duran Duran sang sang about about it it.

This next chapter of The Eventual Planifesto reviews how you can outsource your “do”, get deep into “do” and discusses the difference between eventualizing and procrastinalizing.
