The Suck That is Productivity

I did IdeaWave in 2010.

IdeaWave took place in June 2010 and looks to return in 2011…sooner in the year rather than eventualler. I had the opportunity to take part in this to-do as a speaker – or “idealiverist”, as I’d like to say. IdeaWave is a conference that brings people together to hear thoughts and talks from selected speakers (whose topics have been curated, of course) and also brings the audience together to share their thoughts with speakers and themselves. It’s “TED-ish” in some ways, but not in a whole bunch of other ways. No Al Gore, for example.

How My IdeaWave Talk Happened

Many people are bound to ask me how I put together such a talk  - dubbed The Suck That is Productivity – that I will be doing at Victoria’s IdeaWave later today. Normally I’d have kept this close to my well-hidden chest, but after reading ReWork by the team responsible for 37Signals, I decided to take their advice and share away.  Here goes everything:

  • April 19, 2010: Submit talk idea.
  • July 9, 2010: Begin working on talk.
  • July 10, 2010: Do talk.

As you can see, it was really that simple.

IdeaWave promises to be a great time – and eventual in nature to boot. I mean, going through 50 talks over 2 days screams Eventualism.  A list of those who will be “idea waving” is listed here.  While it’s possible to still be part of this event, it’s also entirely possible that those already signed up to attend will leave both informed, inspired and “intertained”.

I plan to do the latter three.
